Peace and guns are contradictory words. Yesterday, VICE News publish the documentary video on YouTube about Thailand The Land of Peace & Guns (This YouTube video cannot be embedded on this page due to age restrictions)
After watching this video, I have a comment below.
- In Thailand, gun-related injuries and death are higher than in the U.S. Thai TV channels such as Thairath and Amarin TV report this incident on the radio and television every day. Many reasons come from business, marriage, affairs, friends, alcoholic drinks and etc. The shooter is not only the hitman but also ordinary people. It is one of the contradictions in Thailand about Buddhism.
- The number of Thai gun owners is high because of safety reasons. There is much content on the internet about gun recommendations, shooting training like Tactical for Life, etc.
- Thai law does not allow you to buy a bulletproof vest. I don’t understand why. It’s better if the government allows buying. However, I see from Prayuth gov. I don’t see the tendency for law amendment. 😛
- From the news about the gun incidents, I don’t think I feel safe. I think for moving to work and live abroad like in the Facebook group “กลุ่มโยกย้ายมาส่ายสะโพกโยกย้าย”. Many friends have already gone to work abroad.
PS. The story is good. However, the background music is too loud. I cannot hear clearly what the reporter and the interviewee said. It is better if you reduce the music volume.
